Before leaving Spain, it is advisable to ensure that we always have cash (euros or dollars) and one or more credit cards VISA, MasterCard, or American Express, 4B.
You will never have problems to change or withdraw money from either any banks, exchange locations or American cash machines (ATM).
VISAS__________________________________________________________________________________________
As a citizen member of the European Union, you must travel with the new electronic passport without any other types of visa. In addition, from January 12th, 2009 which came into force the legislation of the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) it is compulsory to fill out a questionnaire on the Internet, 72 hours before departure to the United States.
This procedure replaces the green immigration form we had been filling in on the plane before landing. Similarly, we should complete the online questionnaires with our name, passport number, where we will be staying in the United States, purpose of travel, etc.
To complete this form you must go here and follow the steps. Once completed and submitted the form and if admitted, it will display a notice that the authorization is valid either two years or until your passport expires.
For additional information, visit the website of the U.S. Embassy in Spain or the Spanish Consulate in New York.

HEALTH_________________________________________________________________________________________
It is very important that before traveling to the United States to buy a health insurance to provide adequate health coverage in case you need medical assistance due to illness or accident. The importance of a health insurance is because the U.S. does not have a public health network as we know it in Spain and therefore we are not aware of the great expense of visiting a doctor or be treated as a result of any minor accident. The price of a basic medical appointment without insurance is around $ 300 and the use of emergency services in a private American hospital is about $ 1,300.
Some of our tips:
If you have private insurance (ASISA ADESLAS SANITAS, etc) check out your coverage before traveling abroad.
Similarly, check that your credit card has some overseas health coverage if you pay your plane ticket with it.
Also, some banks, life insurance or student cards covers this type of assistance. Check out all cases and do not pay with no sense, you could save a bunch a lot of money.
In case you have to purchase an insurance, ask us how to buy one and we will offer you a health insurance according to your travel for very little money.
Remember that in case of any event should you contact the insurance offices to let you know what subsidized center is closest to where you are, you should go there.
Bring from Spain any medicine you might need and remember that any prevention is low because the United States does not sell over the counter medicines and to get them an appointment from the doctor’s is needed.
ELECTRICITY_________________________________________________________________________________
Although the U.S. electricity is 110-120 volts AC at 60 Hz, the vast majority of European hotels support the voltage of 220 volts or feature processors that allow the use of electronic devices in American outlets. The pins of the plugs are flat, so it is advisable to buy at any hardware store a flat blade plug.
